Best School Premier Destination: Emerald Coast, Panama City Beach
Emerald Coast Kiteboarding ,Panama City Beach, Florida

Many people wonder what the conditions are like in this part of the country, and we can only describe it as a kiter’s paradise. We get great wind and nice weather year round, and when you combine that with the flat shallow waters of the St. Andrews Sound you have the perfect setup for teaching people of all ages how to kiteboard. ECKB is centrally located on the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida, easily accessible by most major cities in the Southeastern US. If you are looking for Brazil-type lagoon riding, we have a few barrier islands within minutes of the shop that provide some of the most serene, uninhabited riding spots a kiteboarder would ever imagine in the US. All of our local beaches consist of sugary white sand and crystal clear emerald-green water, with consistent steady wind year round. Spring, Winter and Fall provide us with frontal related winds, while Summer has a combination of afternoon sea breezes and tropical wind patterns.

Kiteboarding Lessons:

Panama City Beach is an excellent place to learn to kiteboard. Because of our location on the panhandle, we tend to get more consistent and steady winds than other areas. We can teach in any wind direction and have access to many wide open beaches, which provide plenty of room to safely learn. Our instructors have taught all over the world, from Baja to the Caribbean, since the days of two-line kites and pickleforks. We teach all of our lessons on new Best kites, which drastically speeds up the learning curve because of their user friendliness and almost automatic relaunch-ability.

We are the only certified school for both PASA and K.I.T.E.’s in Panama City Beach, FL, and we are one of the only instruction centers in the country to offer the option to use the new waterproof communication system by HeadZone. This allows us to easily communicate with our students while they are in the water, throughout the entire water lesson. While also providing the best in safety and comfort, these wireless headset helmets have drastically increased the ease of learning to kiteboard safely.

Kiteboarding is most quickly mastered by breaking down the learning process into two stages. Learning to fly the kite properly and safely before entering the water will help you to learn at a much quicker pace. After you have learned the basics of kite handling, we like to start off in waist deep water and then move you out into the deeper parts of the bay so you can practice real life situations, such as water relaunch, self rescue and board retrieval. No matter which lesson plan you sign up for, we guarantee that you will have a fun and enjoyable experience that you will remember forever. you can call the shop at 1-866-939-KITE to ask us any question.

Kiteboarding Lessons:

You can fly directly into Panama City International Airport (PFN), which is about a 10 minute drive from the beach. Let us know when you will be flying in and we will send a shuttle to pick you up at the airport. Or, if you live in the Southeast US, you may want to drive down if you feel like exploring the “Forgotten Coast” to the east of Panama City Beach.

Where to stay:

There is every option available when it comes to lodging here in PCB. We have luxurious beach condos, Mom and Pop beach motels, super-sized beach houses, and Florida’s #1 rated state park, St. Andrews Recreational Area. If you have a large group of kiters coming down, ECKB offers their own “Kite Compound” beach house, located directly on the Gulf. It has four big bedrooms, a huge balcony, wireless internet, pool table, swimming pool, and an air compressor for pumping up all of your kites. You can kite right off your backyard!

Things to do:

Not only can you enjoy many days of wind here, but this area also provides great snorkling, diving and deep sea fishing. To many people’s surprise, we get the best waves on the entire Gulf Coast, most notably in the State Park where the infamous “Amazons” (or “The Pass,” as locals call it) boasts some nice peaks for all types of surfers. There are also local spots where you can go wakeboarding and waterskiing, which are fun light-wind activities that help hone in those board skills. After a full day of fun in the sun, the nightlife here in Panama City Beach is world renowned. Hit up the largest nightclub in the country, Club LaVela, or try some “Hunch Punch” at Ms. Newby’s, a local’s favorite hangout.
