Best Schools Premier Destination: REAL Watersports Cape Hatteras, North Carolina
Welcome to Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, home to REAL Watersports. REAL has been the International leader in kiteboard instruction for over 12 years and invites you to come to Cape Hatteras to learn to kiteboard!
Cape Hatteras is located off the east coast of North Carolina. The slim strip of island offers riding in every wind direction. The “flat water side” (Pamlico Sound) of the island boasts waist deep, smooth water to the horizon in every direction! It’s literally the perfect practice pool for kiteboarding. On the ocean side of the island, kiters have access to over 70 miles of bending coastline, so no matter what the wind and swell directions, you can always find the perfect set up for epic kitesurfing.
With over 12 years of experience instructing new and seasoned riders, REAL Coaches are simply the best at what they do. To date, REAL has introduced over 40,000 new riders to the sport and this number continues to grow every year. The REAL Lesson Center is stocked with a full line of Best Kites and Kiteboards. All water lessons have a maximum 2:1 student to coach ratio to assure personal interaction and involvement during lessons. In addition, all coaches have personal watercrafts during instruction to stay close to the student for instant feedback. When you take a lesson with REAL, there’s no walking up wind.
If you’re just learning to kiteboard, the Pamlico Sound is the best place to learn to kiteboard in the world. This body of water is waist deep for as far as the eye can see. This means no swimming and no deep water re-launching. If you crash your kite and lose your board, simply stand up and walk back to it; no problems!
If you’re a seasoned rider, there is every condition for you to choose from. There are lots of flat water riding spots for wakestyle riding, 70 miles of ocean coastline for riding in the surf, plus the REAL Slider Park that always sets the bar at the Triple-S Invitational (hosted by REAL every June since 2006)
REAL Kiteboarding invented the “Kite Camp” back in 2000. Since then, REAL has been teaching camps full time and has evolved the program through feedback from thousands of students and a full-time roster of over 20 coaches. For over 12 years, our staff has been dedicated to “Making New Riders Everyday” and progressing riders’ skills beyond heights they never thought achievable. If you are thinking of becoming a kiteboarder or advancing your current skills, REAL Kiteboarding Camps are your ticket to accelerated, safe and progressive instruction!!
REAL has 5-star waterfront accommodations available onsite at Watermen’s Retreat. Watermen’s features 14 luxury 2 and 3 bedroom condominiums ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 sq ft in size. Teak floors, leather furniture, flat screen TVs and unbelievable views from outdoor decks round out “living in style” at Watermen’s Retreat.
